Why? The economics of services and the commoditization of hardware, connectivity, computing and storage. (From an internal discussion I am presenting). The mobile phone is the new router, connecting devices, services and things to marketplaces that are adjacent and which new companies are establishing and the mobile phone OEMs are disconnected, save Apple and Google.
# Mobile phone connectivity to things, people, places

# Winners are the APIs
# Marketplaces enable Discovery, Collaboration & Commerce
# Software eats Hardware
The pure mobile OEM era is over. No BYOD. Is the router in your hand?
